The magnificent catch by White Sox center fielder Dewayne Wise gave teammate Mark Buehrle the boost of his no hitter against the Tampa Bay Rays. Buehrle pitched a perfect game and became the 17th player in MLB history to pitch a perfect game.
Top of the ninth inning with a 2-2 count with no outs, Rays right fielder Gabe Kapler belted one to center but was robbed by Wise. Michel Hernandez then stepped out and struck out swinging which gave Buehrle one out away from the no hitter. Then Jason Bartlett grounded out to short stop and that’s when everyone surrounded Wise and Buehrle to congratulate them.
Shields pitched for the Rays and he came up with the loss in the 5-0 match up today. What a great game today. I was just sitting at this sports bar the whole time and did not picture this.
